PDXarts, founded in February 2011 by North East Arts Practitioner Phil Dixon, is the culmination of 30 years experience of working in community theatre, with the last 16 of those years also as a professional actor and member of the Actors’ Union, Equity.
Phil’s experience has led him around the country playing in Fringe and Provincial venues, as well as a spell working in London’s West End, and an appearance as a featured singer at an MGM Charity Gala Concert at the London Palladium.
Outside of entertainment, he has also worked in customer services and retail, in finance administration and a special educational needs support department. Since early 2009, Phil was the Artistic Manager of the third sector arts and culture organisation Culture Quarter in Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, which has revitalised the Arts and Culture scene in the town.
The work offered by PDXarts is a continuation of the work started by Culture Quarter, and aims to engage young and old alike in a range of performing arts and cultural experiences, as well as offering help, guidance and expertise to other organisations already in existence.
